Will he see firsthand how psychologically terrible DDLC actually is? Will Monika be surprised and intrigued at this person from the reality she wants desperately to be a part of? Will Yuri be pleasantly surprised by his avid interest in vocabulary? Will Natsuki find solace in finally getting another member of the club who thinks manga is literature? Nat blinked at her and then raised an eyebrow, crossed his arms over his chest and cocked his hip to one side in a pose he'd probably never grow out of. "What's there not to like?"
For once, Monika couldn't even hear the thousands of answers that she knew her mind had waiting just within reach just like she couldn't keep the stinging from her eyes at the threat of tears. She covered it by rustling his hair roughly, laughing and sniffing down the unshakable urge to cry. "Whatever. Don't wait up, okay? I don't know when I'll be back."
Complaining, he wrangled her hands away, but not in time to save his hair. "Ugh, yeah, sure." But he didn't let go of her wrists, simply holding onto her and frowning.
She looked between him and their hands, cocking her head slightly. "Nat?"
As if coming back to himself, he released her, his arms dropping back to his sides, their strings cut. "Just be safe."
