Zwijo steeled himself as he keyed in his override code and opened the door to Yudias’s room.
Within the room, the scent of Yudias’s pheromones was so strong it seemed to cling to the air like humidity, to hang like a thick fog over the entire space. Although Zwijo, like every alpha in the Velgearian army, was on a potent cocktail of suppressants, he still had to pinch himself in the arm to remain focused.
Predictably, Yudias was resting in his bed, surrounded by a threadbare pile of blankets, pillows, and other miscellaneous items from around his room. The fact that he had so obviously tried to construct a nest, and the fact that he was currently bundled in it while watching Zwijo with wide-blown eyes and round, dilated pupils, all but confirmed what Zwijo already knew: Yudias was in heat.
