Summary
It developed into a paranoia of sorts.
Flinching at any form of touch, regardless of if it came from person or object. Glancing towards the exits in any small room, then any enclosed space, then anywhere at all. Initially, it was just odd to observe, but before long it was just outright unnerving. It was something thinly veiled, where all the sharp edges still poked out if you paid attention to where the fabric tore.
Crowley didn’t know how to fix it, and he hated his inability for either remedy or ignorance. Everytime he aimed for the latter, the small differences stood out like a blaring alarm, ringing around Crowley’s head until it drove him insane.

The newest Hashira was an oddity and a mystery. Only a few years older than Muichiro, but seemingly so much more a child. Loud and displeasing to the ear, crying and wailing constantly, Giyuu didn’t understand how a coward such as Agatsuma Zenitsu could have ever reached a rank such as theirs, particularly without even so much as a shred of evidence regarding his skill.
It was one of the very few things he and the other Hashira distinctly agreed upon. The boy did not belong. He was unfit to be a slayer, a protector. The boy was a liability, and now, every day he would disappear, up into the mountains of the prefecture they were in, in the middle of winter with Demons supposedly about.
In search of coal of all things.

There was another voice, although faint. Further away, maybe, which meant it was most definitely the person outside. The foreigner had to strain to really hear anything from that person, but he supposed it didn’t even matter—it wasn’t like he could understand what was being said, if he could hear it.
The homeowner’s voice raised a notch. It was becoming aggressive sounding. It made the foreigner jump to his feet, more wide-awake then before, and approaching the door. Did the homeowner need help? If he did, there wasn’t much he could do about it.
(There's someone at the door, someone who's pissing off the hermit. The foreigner decides to check it out, but desperately wishes that he didn't. If only someone understood his concerns when he voiced them.)
