It’s been almost 100 years since Order 53 emancipated the herbivores from servitude, and almost 200 since the end of the War of the Species, the first herbivore revolt.
And yet, since then, progress has been slow. Herbivores may be freed, but they lack many basic rights. They're made to use sub-standard facilities, are barred from office, and lack the franchise, property rights, habeas corpus, and citizenship.
Meanwhile, carnivores live in high society. They eat meat, dominate the country's politics, and rampantly discriminate against the subjugated herbivore population. So, who would've thought... that it would be the son of a local teacher, and the son of a speciesist politician, who would bring the entire system crashing down?
