Lance is a detective, a very good one he might add, and he is sick and tired of looking for Maroon; a serial killer that acts like a cool ninja (these are NOT his words).
That's why he goes to a bar to escape from everything and everyone. However, he meets a pair of very shinny indigo eyes, and Lance cannot deny the conexion he and Keith have.
Keith is apparently a normal guy with some bloody weird hobbies some would say... And he is very interested in preventing Lance from finding out, because he has not yet completed The List.

Lance was in pain. Lance was hurting. Lance was growing a garden in his lungs. It was choking him, killing him slowly. But he, being the stubborn boy he is, refused to tell anyone. Why would he? He was expendable, right? He could afford to be replaced. Telling the team would only worry them and put another burden on their shoulders. Besides, they had a galaxy to save, they had no time for Lance’s little issues. He’d just do what he would always do, bite down and bear it with a smile.
And seeing Lance do that to himself was eating Keith up from the inside.
It’s not like this was easy on Keith either. The fact that Lance had contracted this god-awful disease means that he loved someone. And that someone didn’t love him back. Sure, Keith’s own tattoos confused him but at least he could live with a body covered in flower tattoos. Lance can’t live with lungs full of roses.

Keith couldn’t help but glance back up and saw the other with his mouth agape, eyebrows raised, and his eyes having shock in them.

Keith is insecure about the fact that he's autistic because of a stupid Reddit post where people complained about their autistic partners which results in Keith worrying Lance is also bothered by the fact he's autistic and he tries to mask. Lance notices and then tells Keith that he's perfect the way he is.
