The truth of this fic lies somewhere between the exquisite emotional torture of the unexamined love that Sherlock and John have for each other (its texture as if dragged through broken glass) and the "love/lust" Moriarty feels for Sherlock as expressed through his sadism (its texture the hard, articulated scales like that found on armor).
Ugh, so so so so many conflicting emotions with this one! Emotional exhaustion never felt so...exhausting..

Stakes, stakes, my kingdom for stories with realistic emotional stakes...
A strong story with an engaging premise and good dialogue & compelling characters...that had me feeling all kinds of emotions! Whoo!
What a goddamn satisfactory conclusion though-- in spite of (because of?) all the twists n' turns it took to get there.
Hell, I loved all the tenderness and the smexy this story had to give... I loved the parallels and bookends...I just...loved.

God, this story was fun to re-read on a Sunday after so long away from it--I could never have survived this as a WIP!
To descibe this fic as "fun" almost seems dismissive to the darkness contained herein, but Peacocking, Thoroughbred!Hannibal and naughty/haughty Morally Grey!Will and their dance of ethical ambiguation have never been more "fun"

Momo wasn't sure why it came as such a shock to her and her classmates that nitroglycerin was not, in fact, easy to control. The chemical was defined by it's instability, it's ability to go off under near any circumstances, it's powerful blows.
And yet, Katsuki had always made it look so simple. He soared through the air like it was nothing, switching between bullet-sized blasts and missile levels of firepower like most people switched channels on TV. Momo had found herself jealous of his quirk at times, unable to help wondering what it would be like to have such power at her fingertips.
Good news, she didn't have to wonder anymore. Bad news, it was absolutely terrible.
