I DO NOT OWN ANY CHARACTERS OR THINGS MENTIONED IN THIS FICJay's trust is forever broken. For as long as he can remember, he's been lied to and played with. Well, not anymore. So it surprises even him when he accepts the ninja's offer to stay at their monastery. Things get worse when Jay starts remembering his actual past, and it has to do with pirates? Not to mention the stupid, magnetic tug he feels every time he's around the water ninja...
Nya would rather die than go through what she went through after the merge again. She promised herself years ago that the first person she would tell would be Jay, her yang. But this Jay is so much more different than the Jay who loved and adored her. Nya doesn't think she could tell him anything. But she doesn't know how long she can go on like this, without telling anyone. She didn't know how long she could hold on.
In other words, Jay's only memories are of the nefarious Nadakhan, and Nya's been through.. a lot after the merge. They don't have anywhere to go to. Except each other...

It’s a story about second chances, magical chaos, and a father who just wants to fix what he broke—if he can survive long enough to try.

for the purposes of this fic, the arrakore/rox/nya/sora fight didn’t happen until after jayrogue was dragged back to the monastery (and somehow sora was still there… just go with it idk) and he gets poofed into the fight, too. although he and his shattered soul are quick and eager to jump to any violence presented, this time is different. in the presence of the last remaining djinn, he is wracked with panic that he can’t place. of course, nya knows exactly what’s happening, it happened to her the first time she met arrakore during her and sora’s travels after the merge, but she’s the only one who remembers her and jay’s last encounter with a djinn.
after that, jayrogue is plagued with nightmares. nya is the only one who is able to comfort him, because she’s the only one who truly understands what he fights in his sleep.Series

I write this with LOTS in mind about Skybound, many bad things and good things about this season (The bad things are baaaaad though). Anyhow, I do wish they kinda gave us more of a detail of what happened with these two after skybound, because all we get is them essentially together but no convo. I guess this one-shot is how I would write that convo?? idk. Anyways yeah. I will always love these two losers, they both don't deserve any hate.

‘Cole felt like he was dreaming, walking through a thick haze, senses dulled to a deafening numbness. He couldn't feel anything. He saw leaves rustling, but he couldn't feel the breeze. He could barely feel the ground under his feet.’
I was blown away by the love I received for my recent angsty ball of Ninjago fanfiction; Just Breathe. So I wrote another one, this time focused on Cole’s time as a ghost. While Cole takes centre stage, there is plenty of Lloyd/Morro angst and Jay/Nya/Nadakhan angst mixed in.
The fic spans from the start of S5 until post S7. It is canon compliant, but focusing on the times in between. S6 in particular is treated from the team’s perspective, so skipped over completely (although the events are eventually discussed).
TW: There is violence, but it is only slightly worse than what you would expect in canon. There is discussions of rape. The rape itself isn’t graphically described, but it comes up multiple times. I will put an author’s note at the start of each chapter that is relevant. -

Living on Nadakhan's ship has clawed deep wounds into Jay's heart and mind, leaving him with trauma he fears the others won't understand. After his rescue, Cole convinces him to open up and supports him through the terrible emotions that follow. It doesn't undo the harm done, but it's the first step to recovery.
Any and all bruise shipping can be interpreted as platonic if reader wishes. Jay and all other ninja are young adults.

The Mechanic’s attack on Zane in the Kryptarium during Enkrypted (Skybound) is more thoroughly explored as a machine-exclusive form of sexual violence. Jay, Cole, and Pixal convince Zane to receive help in the aftermath of the attack.
No literal nor graphic rape/non-con, but I want to be extra safe as it is such a sensitive subject. Maintenance is a metaphor for intimacy. There is lowkey Jay/Zane/Cole ship content but it should be easy to ignore if that isn't your cuppa.
