Putting aside her misgivings about the other members (cough, cough, Sirius Black) the band is the best thing she's done in years, and this creative outlet is exactly what she needed with how Petunia's been acting lately. Maybe, just maybe, she can even learn to get along with her band mates...Lily joins the marauders' band, falls in love with James Potter, and then they mutually yearn for far too long. Because would it even be jily if they weren't both oblivious?

Regulus's first thought when he was met at the door with a pair of searing green eyes was something like “Who exactly gave you permission to cut straight through me?”
Then those eyes were moving closer and somehow enveloping him in a hug that felt like he was suddenly at home. But not any home he had ever had before.
“Sorry, I just assumed you’d be a hugger because Sirius is,” she laughed prettily - a sound like warbling birds, "I'm Lily," she said, and he noted that her auburn lashes brushed over cream skin dotted with cinnamon and nutmeg freckles. And he realised he was practically gawping. He snapped himself out of it and forced a smile onto his face.

“Reg,” Sirius laughed, turning to him, “You remember James?”
James looked up at him, “Regulus,” he said with a boyish, crooked grin, “It’s great to meet you again.”
And for the first time in his life, Reg had cause to wonder if God was actually real. Because he certainly seemed to be laughing at him. Far from the irritating berk he had met in Sirius's doorway, tonight, James Potter looked like Summer personified.
If Lily was Autumnal, all cozy warmth and contrast, then James was the clear, heady light of mid-July.

And the thing was, James knew Lily Evans. Against his will, of course, but he did know her.
That happened to a person when they lived with someone, shared meals and classes and even some friends. James’s feelings toward Lily were lukewarm at best. Sure, she was fun to wind up, and he didn’t mind a bout of banter every now and again, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t bloody annoying. James wasn’t sure how she did it, but she always managed to be half a step ahead of him. Every time he pulled ahead in lessons, she’d swoop in with some “brilliant” analysis, precisely engineered to contradict whatever point he’d been making. She was friends with Snivellus, which was a personality flaw if he’d ever seen one, and also probably evidence of a brain worm.
But as annoying as she was, James had to give it to the girl: She was no liar. At least, he didn’t think she was.
