The alchemist staggered his way to the most desolate parts of Dragonspine, the corruption clawing at his very being. His goal: To kill himself and the corruption alongside him. But it seems a certain someone has other ideas, denying death to the weary man.
Meanwhile, Aether and Paimon return to Mondstadt, only to find out that Albedo is missing.
Albedo soon finds himself trapped between a rock and a hard place, with seemingly no escape in any direction. His attempts to die are thwarted left right and centre by the very man who first denied him that peace. But perhaps Dottore has the key Albedo needs to escape both death and corruption entirely.
OR
A very suicidal Albedo gets snatched by Dottore. Chaos ensues.

And once again, off Kaeya goes, detailing the Spark Knight's newest adventures with the Knights. Diluc focuses on following him, not really paying attention to what Kaeya is saying, but much more on the idea of not having a mental breakdown in the middle of Windrise.

He'd gotten through enough of those on his own, just as he deserved; he didn't need to drag Kaeya down towards his own demons. Not again.

And yet, he just couldn't stop thinking about what-ifs. What if someone decided that Albedo was untrustworthy? What if it turned out that they didn’t plan well enough? What if Albedo was too confident, putting himself as bait? Sure, everyone agreed on that, and he and Kaeya discussed it later in private. It was their best bet. The safest bet. But what if… What if…
Or. After the battle with the monsters, Kaeya withdrew to dress his wounds and think about his own past. Of what Albedo's trial could mean to him. Luckily, he doesn't have to go through these dark thoughts alone.

"The Fatui. They're marching here now, Dottore, Pantalone, Capitano and Tartaglia are with them to take the city. We can't beat them or stop them, Kae. You need to leave!”
"Wait— Diluc, slow down. What are you talking about?"
"The Fatui are on their way to invade Mondstat right now. They're going to take all of the Knights to make sure no one rebels. I know they will. You have to leave!"

The Fatui plan and execute an invasion of the City of Mondstadt at night, led by Dottore, Pantalone, Capitano, and Tartaglia. Diluc manages to warn Kaeya before they get to him, giving him time to flee the city so he may seek help from the neighboring countries.
However, they both know that Diluc isn't getting out of this unscathed.

“Why?” Kaeya remained silent. Diluc took a shaky step forward. “Why, Kaeya?” The look in that crystalline eye almost scared Diluc. He’s not sure why, but something told him he really didn’t want to know the answer to that question.
“Because father died on April 30th, 1058. He’s been dead for almost five years.”

Air leaves his lungs as the wind stings his skin. Shock from the cold and the fall cause both his body and mind to freeze. Diluc is sent plummeting into the frozen snow beneath him.
