The world was in chaos, the outbreak had wiped over half of the population if not way more. The only thing left was a rugged world where you fought to survive another day without getting eaten by the dead or killed by the living.
You had witnessed how cruel the people had turned so you chose to remain alone, not trusting another human fellow. But everyday left you more unclear on what you continued to live for, survive for. Days seemed to get easier to survive, but at the same time they turned hard to get by. You could think again, ponder the reason for your existence and purpose to continue. You didn't have anything anymore, everything once familiar to you was gone. But maybe life wasn't so one dimensional after getting a new traveling companion and leaving the brooding thoughts behind.

She had trouble doing her hair so she asked the woman for help. The two bond and Imanis parents treat her like their own granddaughter. Through that Imani meets Joel Miller, Sarah's father. There is an instant connection and chemistry between the two that they dance around for years. But fate wasn't so kind to the two as Imani had to move to another city for a promotion again. They promise to try and stay in touch but never were really able to.
20 years later: Imani, now completely alone, just had a falling out with the Fireflies in Salt Lake City and was put on "house arrest" - which meant held hostage in a room. But this time fate had some pity on her and brought her the man she had longed for for the past 2 decades since the outbreak right into her room as a prisoner. She decides that she had enough of the Fireflies and helps Joel and Ellie out of the hospital. Now nowhere else to go she stays with them.

'What if' things were different for the survivors of Rick's group? Combining aspects from both the Tv and comic series as well as my own ideas, this story will reaccout the events from The Walking Dead, giving some characters more time to develop or even meet an untimely demise.
Nobody is safe. Nobody has ‘main character armour’. Everybody has an equal chance of dying. Each season will allow different characters to have the spotlight, rather than it being the Rick show.
The overall plot will mostly stay the same in the beginning until the characters are established. However, long term i have ideas on making much bigger changes.
