    Dear Dess,

Oh, that’s weird! I don’t like it, there’s a reason I’ve never done this before, I—I mean, I’m writing you this letter, but…but I don’t even know where you are. There’s no way you’re ever going to get this, is there? Just…words. On paper. And Dess—

This is stupid. You aren’t dead! I can’t mourn someone who is still alive! Why am I…?

Damn it, Dess. Why did you run away?

    Love, Asriel.

    Summary

A chain of unexpected events strands Pomni and Gummigoo. With no sign of immediate rescue, the two new friends set out to find the circus themselves, briefly stopping in Gummigoo’s supposedly non-existent village. The stay ends up longer than anticipated.

It's just one part of a world crammed full of bank heists, saloon brawls, marshmallow six-shooters and dodgy mine hideouts, toffee trains, casino ocean liners and the occasional vicious gumdropbear, all dripping with literal sugarcoating that keeps the family-unfriendly implications around a PG rating. Most of the time.

Pomni is tempted by the freedom to redefine herself and escape Caine’s presumed railroaded adventures. For Gummigoo, the map is painfully familiar yet absolutely alien, raising questions that he and Pomni might not be able to really answer. As time passes, the friends find the map, themselves, and their relationship changing for better and possibly worse.

Unable to summon Pomni back, Caine insists to the rest of the Circus that long-term entrapment in an adventure won’t cause lasting harm to either program or its participants. It’s soon apparent that even the A.I. ringmaster cannot anticipate the consequences hurtling towards them.

    Bookmarker's Notes

one of the BEST works i've read on AO3. top-tier recommendation for TADC fans.
    - astounding, just INCREDIBLE character exploration and dynamics (especially with pomni)
    - a very heartwarming AND heartwrenching central developing relationship between pomni and gummigoo
    - fascinating, meticulous and interwoven worldbuilding that gets you in the aussie candy cowboy spirit
    - excellent expansion on characterization and development for gummigoo, loolilau, etc.
    - awesome new characters that expand the world, plot, and themes
    - a simultaneous sense of hope and dread that permeates the whole work
    - an unstable, unsettling narrative and framing structure in all the best ways
    - wonderous, poetic, and utterly awe-inspiring, yet easy to digest, prose and writing
    - a fascinating, complex plot that simultaneously weaves together developments on multiple levels (literally, haha)
i would say this work is so good that it's dipping itself well into "so good and unique it might as well be considered an original work at this point" territory. that's NOT to say that it deviates too far from the vibes and themes of TADC canon, it doesn't; you won't find a single out-of-character bit or weird tonal dissonance here in relation to canon.
overall, incredible work, and it's not even finished yet! only 13 chapters out when i made this bookmark, and i have a feeling my praises will still ring true--or even be surpassed--by the end of it all.
