It's Hat Kid's birthday, and everyone is excited to celebrate it. Unfortunately, Hat Kid has to go take care of a Time Rift- her job never stops, after all.
Something goes wrong, however, and Hat Kid ends up somewhere... different yet similar to the place she's come to be so used to while living her life.
Now she's struggling to find out how to get home while dealing with an assortment of familiar but ever-changing characters that try to help, hinder or just ignore her while she tries to figure out what is going on and whether or not she'll be back in time for her celebratory birthday cake.

Conductor, Snatcher, and Grooves are summoned to the Academy of Time Travelers for a parent-teacher conference. This would be fine, if it wasn't for the fact that Conductor is drunk, Snatcher doesn't want to be here, and Grooves is more than a little confused about why he's included.
