“So,” Stiles says flatly. He’s staring out the windscreen, the wipers moving back and forth. “You weren’t trying to trick me then.” Stiles narrows his eyes. “Even though you were all like, I don’t want to talk about work.”
Derek’s hands tighten on the steering wheel. He doesn’t like where this is going.
“You’re a lawyer.”
“Yes,” Derek says, annoyed. “I told you that.”
“You didn’t tell me you were the lawyer for the department store robbery!” Stiles says, and his voice is rising. “You’re defending a murderer.”

The whole town believes that Derek's client is guilty of murder, including Stiles, the man he spent one glittering evening with. As their lives tangle painfully together, Derek can't deny the pull he feels towards Stiles, even though he knows the only way this can end is with heartbreak.

Stiles wakes up to a soft knock on the window. Scott holds up a brown bag of goodies and Stiles’ stomach roars at the idea of food.Derek stirs when Stiles moves and gets out of the car, shifting outside back to man, then getting back in the car to get dressed.
“Dude,” Scott calls from outside. “You are going to get arrested.”
Stiles finds the prospect of a cop arresting him for not having sex with Derek absurd and laughs himself fully awake.
Derek, finally dressed, gets out and sort of mumbles at them, “this would be a dumb way to get arrested, I’ll give you that.”

Summary
Stiles unlocks his phone to send out a quick text asking his father what he wants to eat, even though he’ll get salad regardless, and notices a strange number on his recent call log.
His face scrunches in confusion before realization dawns on him.
Oh shit.
Events from the night before peek through the hazy fog of his mind. Stiles thought, or he was hoping, that the phone call was a dream. But there it is, staring at him in the face—a one minute and 57-second call to an unfamiliar number.
Oh God.
Did he seriously call someone—possibly an alpha werewolf!—for phone sex?
...Or the one where Stiles drunk dials a very grumpy alpha werewolf and propositions him for phone sex. Hilarity, misunderstandings, and feelings ensue.
