But he's not going to survive being the new "baby" of a group of past reincarnations of himself if someone doesn't start taking him seriously.
(AKA: Wild gets hit with magic while teleporting, and in another world, the boys get warped through a corrupted tunnel. This causes their paths to intersect earlier than intended by Hylia as she scrambles to keep them from exploding during the switch, and some strange..."side effects" occur. Mainly, Wild being shrunk down into a body that is 110 years younger than his original, and no one believing him that he is 117 as he drags them across Hyrule to Hateno. Lance has been playing basketball since he was five. Barely big enough to dribble, he'd tag along with his older brother and cargo shorts wearing sister, watching the older kids dunk and make fun trick shots to show off to their friends. He'd eaten sticky popsicles from the old timey ice cream truck that magically showed up in the heat waves of summer. Sure he had a nice three pointer, and a pretty good lay-up, but his free throws were crappy and no, he did not want to join your basketball team Keith Kogane!
Keith refuses to give up, even if the guy's a jackass at first. The Voltron Lions need a big break, and no offence, but Allura and Matt aren't cutting it anymore. Not if they wanna beat the Daibazaal Devils and put Voltron back in the rankings. Sure, it's just a highschool co-ed basketball team, but Shiro always threw himself all in for Keith. Now it was Keith's turn.
He just had to throw himself all in at Lance.
Yeah, it wasn't going too well.

And he had never had a loving mother tell him it made him stronger for it. So he told himself, gathering up his courage and grit to face a world of winged humanity, when he, in fact, has no wings and turns into a mermaid instead.
A world that wants him to die.
So he'd keep this secret like a knife in his boot, a sharp weapon until he died on his own terms. Not because of who he was.
Except, Team Voltron isn't so sure why Lance is all rough edges and sharp points about showing off his wings. Or acting like a member of the Flock in general. It's clear he cares for them, but he's never shown an intimate part of him.
Until he has to.

Summary
Lance is a simple street rat, and has been since he was a small child, orphaned at birth. Hunk is his best friend, who's family had to give him up due to money at a young age : essentially making them brothers. Altea used to constantly have conflict with the neighboring country, Daibazaal, which resulted in a lost baby prince, but after that a peace treaty from generations ago went back into affect to keep good relations between the two homelands. Every time a second prince of Daibazaal came of age, he'd dance with the second heir of Altea - only the prince has been lost for years. Lance never cared about any of that - he just cares that the royal family seem to think he's the long lost prince!

There is a running gag about Professor Iverson liking "white" things around the Garrison campus after he got into a shouting match with an exasperated student, who yelled it in his exhausted rant.
Iverson is really into Christmas carols, and the campus is making even more jokes about it.
And then Iverson challenges the VOLTRON group to the school's upcoming annual Winter talent show.
And they decide they are going to use that joke to their advantage.
Now they just need someone to sing......

Spiderman has appeared! In the form of Keith Kogane, a moody foster teen that was bit by a radioactive spider on a class field trip. He's already donned the mask and suit to go with his powers, but as Keith, he's just a quite 'freak' with a temper and crush on the school's favorite class clown, Lance McClain. New villians are rising, no longer does Keith just deal with bullies and a (massive gay) crush and burglars and crooks, but people much, much darker. Including himself.

In which Lance gets rejected by two magical space lions, has questionable uses of Altean hair, and decides its time to let Earth in on the whole aliens are real secret. Team Voltron, on the other hand, has no idea, but decides a year is too long to have let Earth go without an alliance, now that they've got their bases secured and can't be detected, comes to visit, having mostly given up hope of ever finding Lance again.
