He gently shook the mat to wake the boy inside. The boy is his friend Liu Kang. While they were not much different in age, both being 11 at the time, Kung Lao felt like he was years above him. To say Liu Kang was naive was like saying the sky appeared blue. "Liu Kang are you okay." Liu Kang looked as if he was about to explode from fear and he was very pale. The only response Kung Lao got was a chattering of teeth as Liu Kang pulled the blanket back up over his head.
"Come on what's wr-" Crash
"EEK" a screech was heard from inside the mat. Then it all clicked. Liu Kang was afraid of lightning and thunder.
Tldr: Kung Lao helps Liu Kang get over his fear of storms.
