    Wars groaned, waking up slowly. He had to fight to consciousness, it was like swimming through molasses, slow, difficult and not fun. He wished he could just fall back asleep, he certainly felt tired enough. But the sharp aching in his head didn’t let him. He hovered there for a while, not quite awake but not quite asleep either. It was only when a harsh bang from somewhere outside jolted him fully awake, that he finally took stock of where he was.
