“I found some rubbing alcohol and gauze… It’s bleeding again?”
Caitlyn does not know what to say to her. Still, she cannot stay mute, so she takes in what Vi has just told her and says, “I… I hadn’t even noticed” as she glances at her leg. She truly hadn’t. She has seen much worse than that. It doesn’t hurt nearly as much as it had hours before. “But it’s nothing. How about your injuries? Have you not taken care of them yet?” That last part comes off like a reproach rather than an expression of her concern. She is too tired to correct herself, or perhaps… Perhaps she did mean for it to come off that way. She isn’t even sure she knows which one it is.
“I will, once we’re done bandaging your thigh,” Vi replies as she steps closer. “I know you can take care of it yourself, but you’re not moving away from that door anytime soon, and I’m not of any use to you, I thought… Maybe I could take care of your wound.”
“You really do not have to, I am fine,” Caitlyn says tiredly, and she is all too aware of the fact that neither of them believes that lie. She might have sounded more aggressive than she had meant to sound. “Take care of yourself.”
