    “Oh, no, I don’t think anyone sits there.” Layla paused. She’d seen him before, where had she seen him? It had been some time ago, before her thesis update, and that project in hydromancy class, sometime around—oh, right!

    In the time it took for her to search through the syrupy swamp-waters of her sleep-deprived mind, he had taken the opportunity to sit down and pull out a stack of books and notebooks.

    “You’re Hat Guy, aren’t you?”

    Techno had walked up to the counter of his favorite coffee shop, his lips turned in a small frown when he didn’t spot Tommy behind the register, instead there being a distraught looking girl with pink hair.

    “Where’s Tommy…Niki.” Techno said, his eyes scanning the name tag pinned to the red apron of the girl in front of him. The girl sniffed, raising brown eyes to meet Techno’s.

    “I’m- I’m sorry sir. Tommy won’t be in today. He- he was kidnapped last night.”
