He’s never been able to save Will.
“I’m sorry,” Mike blurts out. The words tumble out of his mouth and the tears begin to fall, before Joyce even has a chance to get another word in. “I - I’m sorry, Joyce.”

Summary
Mike dreads the nights.
Not for any of the reasons he'd deem "normal," whatever that godforsaken word even means. He's not afraid of the dark, nor what lies in it, no, he fears the stillness. That empty stretch of hours where shadows fall, the world itself falling silent.
The nights give Mike the time to think, and good god, Mike does not want to be given the time to think.
OR: Somehow, Mike and Will would be doing alright if it wasn't for the nights.

“What about me?” Mike asked, voice wobbly and raw.
Will felt himself shatter into a million pieces.
His own tears fell from his face. He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself and not fall apart in the parking lot of his high school on prom night with his childhood best friend and let's face it, probably the love of his life.
Will clutched Mike’s hands tighter. “You, Mike Wheeler,” his voice cracked, “will do amazing things. You’re gonna chase your dreams and,” Will inhaled, trying to steady his voice, tears streamed down his face. “You’re gonna follow your heart. Trust yourself.”
Mike sobbed, shaking his head.
Will had applied as a fluke. He didn't think he'd get in.

But, that’s when he meets his new friends.
And he might become one of them, soon enough.OR: Will meets The Losers Club, a young group of clowns working with Pennywise. Will he abandon his life in Hawkins to become a Loser, or will he continue to live a miserable, meaningless life in the close minded town?
