Summary
Juliana’s dad is abusive and an ass. He found her in a compromising position and disowned her. Lupita is an abused wife and isn’t able to stand up for Juliana and lets her dad kick her out. The Carvajals are a wealthy family, well liked and known for their charity endeavors. When Valentina runs into her during a chance encounter, she and her family welcome Juliana to stay with them for a time: all they know is that Juliana’s dad is an abusive drunk and she ran away. The girls have grown closer over time and the tension is building. Set in the 18th century, doesn't really matter tbh.
“You want a happy house, with a husband and children, with your family. A man who can make you happy and keep you safe.”
“That isn’t the life I want. Is it the one you want?”
Juliana shook her head, tears were building in her eyes but she bit them down, she would not allow herself to cry right now. “It’s the life I wish I wanted.”
