Cater's unique magic has gotten him out of a lot of difficult situations, but it has forced him into even more. Split Card has allowed Cater to feel useful, to feel needed, even when it made things much worse for him. Throughout his years at Night Raven College, Cater's spell gives him many opportunities, but he needs more than just magic in order to leave Night Raven as a better person than how he entered.

What started as a study of Cater's unique magic, and how he uses it to benefit those around him, turned into something much bigger, diving into Cater's past and everything that made him the person he is in the main story.
