Summary
"Mine," Mydei reiterates, grinding his hips down. It makes them both shudder. He'd wanted to make Phainon desperate for him, to work him up as penance for making Mydei watch as all of Okhema flirted with him. He's succeeded on that front, but he's also made himself just as desperate.

Summary
Alexander looks between them skeptically and says, “You’re dating the Prince of Castrum Kremnos? I highly doubt so, you two bicker all the time.”
Phainon laughs, loud and wide at that. “Yeah, like an old married couple, don’t you think?”
“Prove it,” Alexander says, crossing his arms.
Seeming like he was expecting Alexander to say such a thing, Phainon shrugs. “Sure.”
Mydei sees the kiss coming and doesn’t bother stopping it.
Phainon has a stalker, so he proposes that he and Mydei fake date. It goes as well as you would expect.

Summary
The sight seizes air from his lungs, because behind the counter, arranging a bouquet of white tulips and pink lilies with a gentle precision, is a man who he would recognize anywhere, someone who he feels like he’s known across a thousand lifetimes.
Phainon’s seen him in sun-drenched markets. In the battlefield, in bathhouses, under the moonlight with the same sharp eyes. He’s seen the same hands that are currently arranging flowers offer him a cup of pomegranate juice. He’s felt those hands against his own. He’s seen them stained with gold.
“Mydei?”
Only when ‘Mydei’s’ eyes widen in surprise does Phainon realize that he’s been staring, jaw slacked. At a complete stranger. Fuck.
Or, Phainon learns that giving flowers to a florist is harder than it seems, especially when that florist looks exactly like the man who he’s seen a hundred times before in his dreams.

Summary
Mydei dropped his chin to his chest with a quiet breath of a laugh. “Phainon, being with you makes me happy. Before I met you, I thought such a thing as happiness was no longer mine to claim.”
He huffed another laugh and it was more hollow than the last. Warm but just slightly off. He shook his head, blue and gold gleaming off his ear in the eternal day that cast their long shadows across the earth far below them. With their backs to the city, it was as though they were at the top of the world. Finally, after such a long journey. But if they slipped then they would tumble to the bottom and shatter into unsalvageable pieces.
“The closest I ever came before to such joy was when those five were at my side.”
…
“Did you ever honestly mourn for them?”
No matter how Phainon searches Okhema, high and low, morning to evening, Mydei is nowhere to be seen. Until Phainon finds Mydei atop the city walls reliving some old memories that ache anew. Sometimes happiness is hard to swallow.
