    “What?”

    Summary

"Jinx wasn’t the only one who heard voices.

She heard Caitlyn’s voice, repeating the same last words before hitting her and abandoning her. She heard Powder’s voice, crying with so much anguish, asking why Vi had abandoned her, only to transform into Jinx’s voice telling her not to call her that, that Powder was dead.

Then, Vander’s voice, telling her that everything was on her shoulders. Shoulders that had led to the brutal death of her brothers and father, and the destruction of her sister’s mind.

She heard her parents’ voices, and sometimes they visited her, standing before her, with the same empty eyes, the stare of the corpses Vi had looked into, her last view of them. And their voices were screams, the screams of those who died at the hands of those wearing the same uniform that their daughter had dared to wear out of foolish love.

She was no longer Vi, because Vi would never have made those choices, nor would she have led to the destruction of everything she fought so hard to protect. Vi represented purity, strength, protection, security.

She was none of that. Not anymore."
