“Wait, what are you doing here?” He closes his eyes and shakes his head, “How did you… I mean thank you, of course. Like wow, the timing but uh… why are you… here?”
Reggie did not think this far. He swallows.
“I was just uh, nearby. Y’know.”
“Nearby? In New Mexico?” There is the start of a smile on Hughie’s face.
Reggie shrugs, “Well when someone like me goes on a walk it isn’t just around the block y'know? Gotta… run.” He finishes lamely. Gotta run? What the fuck does that mean?

Summary
Bruce cannot tell them who Joker is. He doesn’t know where he would even start. He cannot tell them he is criminally insane; cannot admit that he tricked his way onto Bruce’s ship to get here. Explaining their relationship never goes well, even with people who know and love him. These strangers who consider Clark and Bruce responsible for Earth’s safety are not going to handle it well. The guards and the elders look between them and Bruce starts to see the shape of a plan. The puzzle pieces coming into focus.
It is a bad fucking idea. It is an incredibly stupid idea. It’s also a really good idea.
“You can’t take him.”
Joker smiles at him like he always does when Bruce gets in between him and whatever trouble he has caused. Like he’s won a game that no one else is playing. Or rather, a game that he is forcing everyone else to play against their will.

Summary
Justin tries to wait him out, stays quiet and doesn’t look but John is far better at this game and, for once, is probably running on more sleep than Justin.
“Need something, boss?”
John still doesn’t say anything. Justin feels like he should be annoyed but he’s too tired for that. He rubs a hand across his forehead before turning to face him.
John is closer than he realized, leaning his hip against the desk, shoulders hunched. John holds out his coat. Justin is incredibly confused.
“Boss?”
John pushes the coat into his chest and holds it there until Justin slowly reaches up to grab it. He still hasn’t said anything, he just nods his head towards the door and starts walking. Justin pulls the coat on and follows.

He turns towards Wrecker and raises an eyebrow.
“I won, didn’t I?”
Wrecker is nodding before he finishes his sentence. Crosshair did win and Wrecker pouts when they are out in the field but truth be told, this is still winning to him. Who took down more droids is the farthest thing from his mind. He drops to his knees and runs his hands up Crosshair’s legs.

“Ahsoka…” His head turns towards her and she can see him. It isn’t much, but she cracked his mask and she can see him.
“Anakin.”
It hurts so much to see him like this, but something in her solidifies. He is in there. She can reach him. Ahsoka makes a decision. She can do this. He trained her, she knows how he fights, how he moves.
She knows how to beat him.
“I won’t leave you, not this time.” Her chest is heaving, she tries to breathe. Center herself. She will have to give this everything she has.
For a moment, he just stands there. He looks at the floor and she feels like she is looking at Anakin again. Her master. Intense, feeling too much, just like he always has.
“Then you will die.”

He's never had a joke land so completely flat. It sounds strangled and weird coming out of his own mouth, like it was never supposed to be a joke in the first place.
"Um," Sam starts, and his voice fucking cracks. "Dean."
Immediately, Dean says, "I didn't say that. Sam, I never said that."
