“I don’t know what I have to do, Wednesday, to get you to notice me, so I really need you to tell me,” she begins. Her chest tightens, like she’s having a stroke. “What is it that I need to do? Do you want me to go on investigations with you? Spend hours in an old bookstore or that weird place with all those dead things? Get you a bat to care for?”
Wednesday’s eyebrows furrow, her mouth turning down into an even deeper frown.
“I don’t think I understand,” she says.

Enid makes numerous attempts to show Wednesday she likes her, with no luck. She’s more than angry when the one thing that finally catches Wednesday’s attention is Yoko’s pet bat.

Summary
Enid is a college student just trying to get to the end of the semester. Wednesday is the vampire who accosts her in a dark alley. Apparently, something is wrong with the taste of Enid’s blood, and Wednesday won't leave her alone until she sees a doctor.

The next thing Enid was aware of was the sound of retching. She wrinkled her nose. The shadowy figure was bent at the waist a few feet away, both hands clutching its stomach.“Um,” she said. “I literally can’t believe I’m asking this, but are you okay?”
