Stede tilted his head.
“I know where you’re at,” Ed said. “I was, like, just there. And you know what saved my life? You need some useless shit that just makes you happy. It’s a lot easier to make it through the day when I know I’ve got my bunny slippers and my living room is painted a color I actually like, y’know?”
“That doesn’t feel like enough,” Stede said, slowly.
“Nah,” Ed agreed. “But it’s a start. You’ve gotta choose every day to live until you wake up and it doesn’t feel like a choice anymore.”Ed is enjoying the novelty of a quiet New Year's in when there's a surprise knock on the tattoo shop door. Stede is freshly-out, going through it, and just needs a little help. Ed knows well what that's like.
