Eddie was bored, to say the least.

Eddie was really freaking bored and he was going to lose his mind if he didn't do anything to occupy his already spiraling train of thought. He was more alert and highly stung today, just waiting for the inevitable danger to approach his hideaway. Turns out that being locked away in a cramped boathouse in the middle of nowhere isn't exactly the best of situations to be in, especially when the whole town thinks you are a cold blooded, murdering freak.

He exhales. Closes his eyes. Maybe this is his time, because what does he have left, Claire dead and Jim dead and the NOC list in the right hands. He’s done his job. He’s completed his mission.
The blade stops, rests right up against the front of his jugular, kisses the skin. He wonders if he really will finally die here. It wouldn’t be that bad, would it? Painless.
He swallows. Blood pools up, red hot. The train is dead quiet and everything is dark and eerie, like he’s the last person on earth. Maybe he is. Maybe the whole mission was a bad nightmare.
Of course it doesn’t last. He doesn’t know if he wanted it to, if he wanted to spend forever spread on the train with the blade at his throat, spared from facing the world without his team, without anyone who knew him at all.
But he lives. He lives, and he keeps living. He always does.

Shakily, he brought his hands up to the back of his neck, flinching as he felt a half-formed scar underneath his fingertips.
"What the hell?" Steve swore, staring down at the blood that now covered his hands.
A crow squawked somewhere in the distance, the sound reverberating around his skull painfully.
