Previous title: Crowley has a dream - or is it real?
Crowley survives a discussion with God, in which there are more questions than answers on both sides. How can he talk it over with Aziraphale, when they are not on speaking terms any longer? Muriel helps to make the contact. First insight: the universe is a chessboard. First question: How can a chess piece overturn the chess board? And how is it possible that the chessboard maker Herself wants something She can not make Herself? During these discussions Aziraphale and Crowley reconcile, share a kiss and find a possible answer to the latter question. Aziraphale and Crowley manage to push the Almighty out of Her comfort zone. Aziraphale wins the power struggle with the Metatron, thus blocking Armageddon. The Metatron is out of a job and becomes depressed. High level negotiations occur to secure a truce between Heaven and Hell. Aziraphale becomes good at tempting other angels. Crowley steers the humans towards leaving the cosmic chess game by selected benedictions and maledictions. Beelzebub and Gabriel get a major new job. Aziraphale and Crowley scout other universes for the Almighty and eventually find themselves with a strange link towards Her.

Hollow grows sick of the King's endless apathy towards him during their chess games. They spend every day together on that tiny, little, desolate island. Orpheus is stalwart in his knowledge; he knows what will please him, what will make him happy, what will make Matthias finally open up to him. There's no more princesses here, only them. He wants the King- doesn't Matthias want the same?
Or: Or; Hollow stabbing out KING-h1's eye, his own, and swapping them as a form of proposal. Eyeballs work as wedding rings if you've got enough screws loose.
Hollow always smiles when he checkmates, running his fingers over the tips of those prongs, making the King teeter and totter off balance. He’s like the chess pieces in a lot of ways– Hollow likes to laugh that he’s perfect, carved out of ivory and some wayward maker’s devotion for an eternity of good matches with someone. In a lot of ways, the King is not like his chess piece. Matthias has the dignity to not buck and shriek like he’s dying– he’s not, he’s dealt with worse– but he still ducks his head and hisses between his teeth. He does not yield under Orpheus’ hand.
