  1. Summary

A Post-canon AU of Genshin, featuring Lumine as the Traveler and Aether as the Abyss prince. Set 10 years after the game's start, in a newly created Teyvat that is exactly the same as before- But with no Celestia, no Visions, and no Divine Powers. Every non-human character (that are not dragonkin) are now bound in a mortal body (human and/or animal-hybrids), and they can no longer control the elements. The ley lines are back in the dragons' control, and they are now regarded as the new "Archons" of the world. Though this story has little to do with that.

Here, Aether and Lumine are reborn as human. Meanwhile, Xiao is... not quite human, but not an immortal nor an adepti, either. And more importantly, he's coming along with the twin's journey to go around Teyvat a second time. Together they try to reconnect with friends, assimilate back into human society, and find a new purpose in their brief, newly-mortal life.

    Summary

“I do not doubt for a moment that you will return. You are incredibly strong and cunning, not to mention exceedingly lucky. Everything will go according to your plans. I am certain of it.”

    I'm afraid.

I don’t know if I can do this by myself.

Ratio,” he manages to utter before their lips meet, the heat and need for pleasure taking over the crevices of his mind again. Aventurine presses against the other man, his body having gone too long without any stimulation. With a sense of urgency, he parts his legs and wraps them around Ratio’s waist. “Fuck me.”

    The words feel wrong.

    Make love to me.

    This first and final time.

Sunday misuses his powers of the Harmony to send Aventurine into heat. He panics. Ratio steps in to help. They share an unexpectedly romantic heat before Aventurine must leave to finish his mission.

    Summary

“Math?” And a published academic journal, at that?

“Yes.” Ratio returns the book to his bag, carrying on, but Aventurine’s stuck on the fact that this is apparently what he does in his free time outside of composing music.

“…I thought you were a pianist.”

    “I am a pianist.”

“But– math?” Even Aventurine doesn’t spend that much time thinking about math, and he spends twelve hours a day staring at financial models.

“Does it not occur to you that it's possible to have more than one interest?”

Aventurine lives the same week on repeat: eighty hours of his soul-sucking high finance job, then two nights of dancing off the stress to the beat of his favorite anonymous DJ. His move into a luxury apartment building brings him next door to Ratio, an esteemed classical composer with a love for piano. Eager to make a good impression, Aventurine keeps his clubbing habit under wraps — but he’s not the only one hiding secrets under strobe lights.

    Summary

“Why’d you call me a gambler?”

Ratio’s head tilts again. His face doesn’t move much. But Aventurine swears he sees the shadow of something like amusement in his features—wry and private, like he’s smiling at a joke no one else heard.

“I can hear it,” Ratio says.

    “Hear what?”

“Every time you shift your weight,” Ratio responds, voice low, “there’s a coin in your coat or pants pocket. It strikes against the lining three times—once when you move, twice when you stop. It’s weighted. Slightly larger than standard-issue credits. Smooth edge. It doesn’t roll.”

    Aventurine stares.

Ratio lifts his chin. “It is not a commemorative token. It is not a medallion. It’s the kind used in high-stakes tables. Heavy enough to flip with flair, thick enough to stack without slippage. You gamble. Or you want people to think you do.”

    A beat.

Aventurine’s mouth goes a little slack. His tongue clicks against the roof of it, dry. “You heard that?”

    “I hear everything,”

Aventurine laughs, but it’s shaky, breathless. “You're unnerving, you know that?”

    “I get that frequently.”
