Just watched the movie after reading the book almost a decade ago. This has stayed my favorite Stephen King novel and I loved the movie. Here is what would've happened if The Long Walk wasn't as tragic as it was always meant to be. MAJOR MOVIE SPOILERS! Read at your own risk!! I hope you enjoy!

"Harry was... apprehensive when Asta discovered the truth. But in the end it was one of the best things to happen to him since had had arrived on earth. It was such a relief to be seen and known as himself. Also Asta is far superior than stupid Max and his little friend.
Unfortunately, Asta had taken it upon herself to make him a "bucket list" of activities for him to experience while on earth. Of what little she's mentioned the list will probably be complete gibberish, so...human. The whole idea of the list is truly disgusting, why does he need to experience human activities? He should be focusing on "the radio". But he values Astas help and is grateful she saved and accepted him, so he'll give it a try."

Dean is fine. The way he sees it, things are simple. He had a house and a family and food in his stomach, and now he doesn't. And yeah, that's a downer, but he's not going to let that stop him from being fine, because he's in control of the situation. He definitely doesn't need anyone to save him. Under a much different circumstance, Eddie would have loved to have Steve’s eyes looking over him like that, would love to have that determination focused on him, but Eddie is very much dying, he knows it, so he smiles at Steve’s misplaced confidence instead, “High expectations, Stevie. Where’d you learn to swing like that anyway?”
“I’ll tell you,” Steve’s voice is a bit shaky, his tone wavering, even as he puts on a brave face, “but you have to stay alive, Munson.”
If he had more strength, he’d consider testing his luck one last time, tease Steve by asking if he swings for Eddie’s team, but- he’s tired.
Dying young. What a fucking nightmare.
Or, what if the Party defeats Vecna in time, and Eddie lives?
