It's okay. Grian says, incoherent and echoey that it felt rehearsed in his mind. Diligently, Mumbo holds himself like a lost teddy bear. He can’t believe he thought putting a friendship at stake for a hookup would be a good idea. But who would he ask? Grian's the best shot.
"Huh?"
"Can we kiss?" Grian spits.
Oh. This can't be it, surely?

Summary
When one day Mumbo had woken up with a pair of dark wings, and these absurd impulses, of which he honestly had a hard time controlling, he’d had to contact the only person on the server with matching traits. It just so happened that a certain someone had lost their wings, and had gained an odd fascination and understanding of the mechanics of redstone.
Mumbo hadn’t realized he’d lost that too, not until Grian had corrected some of his blueprints. That one had been a shocker to him when it happened. Nearly drove him nuts, Grian, of all people, refining and correcting his redstone. He was sure it had to have been some sort of nightmare.

- Book One, Healing is a Four Letter Word - Missing his memories and in a strange land, Grian tries his best to adapt. (5 times Grian meets a Hermit, and 1 time they already knew one another.)
- Book Two, The Aftershocks of Divinity - Reunited, Grian and Mumbo slowly heal together. This would be a lot easier if Grian could remember just why Mumbo is so important to him.

Summary
Mumbo doesn’t say anything for a moment, and Grian doesn’t look at him - until a hand gently clasps over his shoulder. “Things do change,” he starts. “We’re both growing as people, Grian, and you’re dealing with memory loss and the things the Watchers have done with you. And it’s not always going to be easy.”
“Comforting,” he mutters, and the hand tightens ever so slightly - not painfully so, just added pressure.
“It doesn’t mean it’s going to change for the worse, mate.” Mumbo squeezes his shoulder once more, before letting go.
Or: Grian and Mumbo have finally been reunited after being torn apart - but they have a lot to learn after almost three years of being separated, and Grian has to figure out just where his place is among the Hermits.
