Summary
Loving Viktor is easy, Jayce thinks. Easier than breathing, easier than existing. He would do anything for Viktor, who is his best friend and closest confidant. His partner in all ways but one.
However, there are some things he simply cannot do, like convincing the council to fund Viktor’s passion project. As a result, Viktor becomes a surrogate for hire, and Jayce must watch him go through the trials of pregnancy, all while trying to support him the best he can without accidentally confessing his feelings.

“I’m sorry” Jayce says with the callous tone of someone who is not very sorry “But why would you need, and I quote, a secured spot and a full paid scholarship at the Academy? You’ve graduated more than three decades ago, and I thought you hated it”Oh, that. It seems like Jayce reached the end of the list.
“I do” He confirms, trying to stay very still.
“So what, now you want like a midlife crisis degree?”
“A midlife crisis degree is not a thing” He points out “And I don’t need the spot for myself”
“Then who is it for? I kind of need to know if you want me to do something about this one”
“It is for my daughter” Viktor says, in a way so casual that can only come from years of practice.
“It is for your- your daughter?”
...In this one the hexcore gets out of hand and turns people into zombies. Our heroes solve the problem, except they don't actually solve anything, and the problem comes back after seventeen years of fighting, bitterness, and a teenage daughter Jayce didn't know he had.

Summary
Jayce looks at Viktor, taking in the indecisiveness on his face, the tightness in his shoulders, the haunted look in his eyes that never quite goes away anymore. And something inside him clicks into place.
It isn’t that Viktor doesn’t want him.
It’s that Viktor doesn’t trust himself to want.
"Is that what you need, Viktor?" Jayce asks, eyes softening. "For someone to take the choice away from you? Because I can do that for you, if you'll let me. I can take control from here on out and you'll never to worry about anything else. Would you like that?"
Viktor's eyes are wide, lips parted from where his mouth has fallen open slightly, and for a moment, he seems speechless, but then he nods, a small, barely perceptible shake of his head that reveals more than enough of his longing. "Please."
After waking up in an unfamiliar timeline, Jayce and Viktor find it all too easy to fall into bed together instead of talking about their feelings. This, naturally, leads to consequences neither are prepared for.
Like unwittingly falling into a dom/sub dynamic, for example.
