Summary
Dick is heartbroken when he learns that Bruce has adopted a new kid, and let him be Robin without even thinking to ask. He decides that he doesn’t want to let Bruce’s problems prevent him from having a relationship with his sort of younger brother though, so he now tries to get to know Jason.
Bruce is still struggling with missing his first son, desperately wishing he would come back home and start talking to him again, but he doesn’t know how to express himself.
Selina hates to admit it, but after all these years she realizes Bruce is the only one she’s ever really loved. Yet she’s not even sure she really believes that Bruce is capable of the kind of love she wishes he would feel for her.
Can Bruce learn to show the people he loves how he really feels about them?

Summary
Dick was surprisingly still during the entire period of time that Bruce was working on stitching his cut. He guessed that Dick was probably too anxious and in pain to be his usual energetic self. It made Bruce want to just wrap him up in blankets and protect him from the world, not take him out on patrol again.
The feeling only intensified when heard his little bird’s small voice ask him a question.
“B, it hurts a lot. Can you… can you kiss it better?” Dick mumbled shyly. “Mama used to do that when I got hurt.”

Jason pounds his fist against his dad’s chest. “Why Bruce? Why?” But he never leaves his arms. He stops for a moment. “Did you even…” One word gets caught in his throat, one four letter word. Isn’t it funny how one singular word can carry so much emotion? So much grief, and betrayal, and comfort, and warmth. “Did you even love me?” He regrets the words as soon as they leave his mouth, and not because he knows how much it’ll feel like a knife to the heart, no. He regrets those words because they just prove that’s what this was all about. A son doubting his father’s love, the same as he had all those years ago when Bruce first took him home. Everything is different, yet nothing has changed.
Or, Jason comes back to Gotham. He’s not really happy about what’s happened while he’s been away.
Bruce just wants his family to be whole again. -

Last year at the Jones’s pot-luck I saw her put a slice in a pot to take home and- would you believe it- Annie told me she was trying to test it to find the ingredients! ‘Not on your nelly’ I told her! I had to steal it back before she could find out.”
