Jiraiya could tell Tsunade and Orochimaru about the third to complete his fated trio of soulmarks: a too-bright sun, dawn come early—piercing and inevitable as the grave. He could tell them it's beautiful, like the others. How it too, feels like a bad omen.
Instead he rises with the encroaching sunlight, spares a prayer for his newest soulmate, and says nothing about it at all.
Or: Having a soulmate is a beautiful, life-changing, gift from the universe. Minato believes the universe has a very grim sense of humour.

"He probably bought them with stolen money," Nero said. "Put those down, Kyrie. Those are blood socks. If my father thinks he can buy my affection with eight dollar blood socks, he is sorely mistaken."
