Summary
The Man of Progress is a symbol and a carefully crafted illusion. Behind it, Jayce has been sinking. Until Viktor makes an offhand comment at a gala and the illusion completely shatters.
“Jayce,” Viktor says. “You’re bleeding.”
That makes sense, Jayce thinks, since he’d apparently just crushed a glass in his hand.
“You’re also not breathing,” Viktor notes. His voice is concerned now, and Jayce feels Viktor’s hand fall on his elbow.
Jayce nods, because that makes sense too. Or, no. It doesn’t make sense. He should be breathing. But Viktor is correct that Jayce is not.

They’re both such adorable weirdos and they know how the other one’s weirdness works, but only for science and not for feelings. But it’s ok because Viktor takes care of Jayce in a panic attack and in bed and Jayce figures out how to propose with both political and romantic intentions.

Ok, hot af office boss/employee Jayvik. You can dress Jayce up in a skirt and hose and heels and have Viktor take care of him in a way he never knew would really work THIS HARD for him. And you can have excellently upfront conversations between them about what they do and don’t like that aren’t full of shame and shyness.

Loves his face, his eyes, the moles on his skin; loves his hair, his posture, his habit of hanging at the back of groups. Loves the way he holds pens and pencils like the bow of a violin; loves the way Viktor forgets himself for hours when absorbed in a problem; loves the way that Viktor is kind to everyone, unfailingly, except himself.
‘I don’t care if it is,’ Jayce says.
Or: After the events of S2, Viktor is to be sentenced as a war criminal. Jayce decides that escaping together is a much better idea.

Nobody rescues Jayce Talis. He’s left for dead in a blizzard. A young boy claws his survival from the forests of Freljord to become a man who barely remembers that name.
And, eventually, a yordle professor drags his assistant along to study murk wolves in the field.
Pinned lightly against a pine by his throat, the scientist studies the face of a wild man. Long hair, scraggly beard, a small gap in bared teeth, eyes deep and searching. Severe.
“I’m Viktor,” he says, once the strong, callused fingers permit him the room to breathe properly. “Who are you?”
