    Summary

Crowley has a revelation in the shower. Not the world-ending sort or the getting-laid sort, but one of the far less fun sorts. The sort that leads you to realize that something has somehow gone very wrong. Most likely, anyway. Maybe.

    Heaven, why him?

Author's Notes: This story can be read as a Standalone, OR as part of the series (located on Squidge). Innocuous came first, and nothing changes what it is--a lovenote to footnotes an excellent GO story.

The footnotes work if the story is read chapter by chapter, the footnotes map properly, but not as Entire Work.

BIG NOTE: I'm moving most of my content to Squidgeworld. My pseud is flamethrower; you can download PDFs, ePubs, & Mobi files on Squidge for easy reading just like you can on AO3.

I do not consent to my work being reposted or used in any unofficial apps or other websites. This work is not posted for anyone's profit.

    Summary

In September of 1971, Severus Snape finds a forgotten portrait of the Slytherin family in a dark corner of the Slytherin Common Room. At the time, he has no idea that talking portrait will affect the rest of his life.

By December, Nizar has been free of a portrait's boundaries for a little over a month. Just in time for things to start to get interesting: he is less than impressed by Death Eaters, agrees with Sirius Black that 12 Grimmauld Place should possibly be burned to the ground, and learns a few things he'd really prefer to avoid.

    Archived Author's Notes:
The amount of geek research that went into this story basically ups its hit points to ridiculous levels.

To find and read the rest of OaLC. this Very Big Story, I'm flamethrower on Squidge at Squidgeworld. I'd direct-link you, but by AO3 doctrine, no one is allowed to use direct links to anywhere for anything unless it's another AO3 work. Hop over to the dot-org site and search for me; I'll pop up right away.

    Summary

In 1993, Gilderoy Lockhart points a stolen wand at Harry Potter and Ron Weasley with the intent to Obliviate them. The wand doesn't backfire. Gilderoy's "discovery" of the Chamber of Secrets is a short-term success.

Other consequences are not short-term at all.

    Archived Author's Notes:
I was watching the Chamber of Secrets movie several years back when the scene in question began to play...and immediately I wanted to know what would happen if the wand had done what it was supposed to do. The answer got very complicated, very, *very* quickly.

Blame Edgar Allan Poe for the title.

Beta work by Norcumi and Mrs_Stanley. Brit Spellcheck will be performed...soon.

*I use the first 7 books and the Tales of Beedle the Bard as canon, but there are moments from the films used because they left me with fun things to play with.
