At just after eleven o’clock in the evening on November 12th, Akito Shinonome yawns, stretching out his limbs before curling back up against his partner, Toya Aoyagi. Toya hums in response, a quiet, subconscious action - the boy has long since fallen asleep in Akito’s strong and reassuring arms.
Akito grins, playing with the fluffy mess tucked into his neck as he reminisces upon the last day - how odd it has been initially. How wonderful it was regardless - of course it was perfect. Toya had planned every element.

Akito resists the urge to comment as his partner borderline purrs at the sensation, soft, rhythmic, and perfectly monotone humming vibrating against his chest sparking some sort of indescribable urge. He pulls her just a bit closer, resting his nose against the familiar curls, soaking in the comforting scent of her cheap, apple-scented shampoo.
His domestic fantasy is, of course, cut short by his awful, terrible roommates.

Today is November 14th - two days after Akito Shinonome’s birthday, and two days before Atena Amane’s birthday. Atena’s girlfriend, Mikiso Saito, and their platonic partner, Rui Kamishiro, have decided to celebrate.

Ena Shinonome had asked her little brother, Akito, to help her tidy up. The kitchen was a mess, covered in dirt with objects strewn about the countertops and the table.
Unfortunately for Akito, the table had been far messier. Objects slowly but surely over the course of an hour returned to their place of origin, tablet in Ena's room and his mother's hairbrush in the bathroom cabinet and remote in the living room - why the hell's this even in here? he had wondered.
Akito, however, had forgotten the self-inflicted cardinal rule of cleaning the communal space the Shinonomes share - do not move your father's things.

The outside of a cottage in disrepair, once a magnificent building that was buried away in the forest, the cottage that Toya retreated to whenever the murmurs of the night grew too loud, too distressing - the cottage that Toya had fallen in love by, a testament to the strength of his secret affair - a building so violently assaulted by the elements still standing proudly, that's Toya.

As Toya sits at the end of Akito's bed, wearing Akito's pajamas hiding in Akito's house, he lets out another sigh. The door clicks open - Ena slips inside, hot chocolate passed to “aibou-kun” wordlessly before she sidles back out. Akito pretends that Ena treating his boyfriend with more kindness than she's shown him in his entire life is not irritating, forcing a gentle smile as Toya takes a sip from the bitter concoction.
There's been enough of these nights. So many that Toya’s got his own special dark hot chocolate powder in the cabinet next to Ena’s white. So many arguments with his father that his sorrow is a regular guest at the Shinonome household.

“Alright, alright. What are partners for, eh?”

Another breath from Toya, this time one of relief. Akito keeps talking. “You at home?”
“N-No, I…” his breath hitches, dizzying, as he properly takes in his location. “Bridge… b-by Kamiyama…”
“Eh? Why, dude, it’s ten at night.” He pauses, then scoffs, “Aren’t you scared of heights?”
Toya nods. He remembers he’s on the phone, and breathes a near-silent “uh-huh”.
“Christ, what are you doing up there?” Another moment passes in silence, and then Toya hears his partner’s breath hitch. “Toya,” he says, voice firmer than before, “what are you doing.”
He doesn’t respond. He can’t.

Desperate for a way out, Toya goes to a bridge, only to find himself too afraid to commit; he calls his partner, and they work through the outcome together.

This must be a bid for attention, Toya realises; she bookmarks the novel and places it on the bedside, shifting to hold Akito. “What’s got you so clingy, hm?”
Warm air brushes Toya’s collarbones as her partner huffs a laugh. “Sorry, just… your skin is so soft now, ‘s nice.” A hand flattens against her stomach, running softly up and down, occasionally pressing into the flesh a little.
