“Clark,” at last he speaks, and Bruce’s expression is— his artificial smile is nowhere to be seen, his face a mask so blank it’s eerie, as though he’s been carved from stone. “Clark. You’re drunk. You don’t know what you’re saying.”
“No,” echoes Clark stubbornly. “I mean it. I’m in love with you.”
“You’re in love with me,” says Bruce, flatly. “After years of knowing each other, just like that. You’re suddenly in love with me.”
it's clark's birthday; he gets drunk. and really, who cares that there are other people in the room, or that he was worried about confessing in the first place for a reason? someone should tell bruce how much he's loved.

Summary
Superman knows he's got a problem when Gotham's "Roman Empire" mafia starts moving into Metropolis. However, a follow up has Batman very firmly telling him to stay out of the city. So what other option does he have than to put on a disguise and investigate himself? And if he happens to fall in love with billionaire Bruce Wayne along the way, well what can you do?
Bruce hadn't put this in his 10 year plan, but sometimes life had a way of picking for you. Juggling being the CEO of Wayne Enterprises during the day and the Batman at night was hard enough without adding the stress of running a criminal empire that he didn't even want. But giving all the power to Falcone would be just as bad as tearing it down and leaving a power vacuum to fill. A new power play and some underhanded plans from Falcone have put him in a tough spot and all of a sudden, a certain Daily Planet reporter has gotten a little too close.
