Summary
Raphael walks in, annoyance on his face until he sees the two of you. His brows knit in confusion, and he opens his mouth to ask what Mikey wants, but then his eyes finally land on the now bared arm you've been trying to pull from Mikey’s hold. His jaw snaps shut, and you feel your breath stall in your chest.
The waiting is the worst part. He is silent for one impossibly long breath, and then he is pushing Mikey out of the way to take your wrist in his massive hand. His eyes are still fixed on your bruised skin, silent rage building behind his gaze as he stares. You’ve never seen Raphael this still. Never seen him this angry before, and that was saying something. Several moments go by, and none of you move. It feels like you can’t breathe, like you’re suffocating under the scrutiny of his gaze on your marred skin.
“Say something. Please.” You beg quietly, voice tinged with fear and anxiety as you brace for the rejection you're certain is coming. Who would ever want damaged goods like you? Certainly not Raph, who values strength.
“He thinks he can beat on my girl?” Raphael snarls.

“I could do it,” Leo said, and Raph had clamped his mouth shut, panning a look to his brother you could not read- one brow ridge raised high.
“You?” You asked, nerves suddenly alight.
“Yeah, why not? It’ll save you on a gym membership. We have everything you need down here, in the dojo. And I know just as much as a personal trainer, look at me.”
He held out his arms, as though to display his physique- which you steadfastly refused to wrack your eyes over. You were well aware of how he looked, anyway. Tall and broad and packed with muscle.
“Plus,” Leo added, “There aren’t any creeps down here to hit on you.”
At that, Raphael began to choke.

Summary
Life on Mars is challenging for the 428 humans who volunteered to be among the first to collonize the inhospitable planet. Things become more challenging when the crew mysteriously loses contact with Earth and misses their regularly scheduled supply ship. Callum tries to stay focused on his work and not worry too much about what could be happening, but when he discovers several of his crewmates missing he gets answers to the questions he was avoiding asking.
The Colvarians have no ill intentions when they rescue a handful of creatures from a nearly barren planet. The creatures are clearly suffering, nearly extinct, and in need of help. Plus, they might just make the cutest pets they’ve ever seen. More research needs to be done before a full domestication mission can take place. First the Colvarians must determine if these creatures can be trained and if they can survive in captivity. Ekleth, a domestication researcher, is thrilled to be leading the team in researching this rare and endangered species.
