Summary
They'd climbed onto each other to get piggy-back rides around a park. They'd gone bungee jumping, something which was far more terrifying than Adam had anticipated (and he'd anticipated a lot), leaving him leaning on Ben while he desperately tried to bring his pulse rate back down from lightspeed.
Really, it was a good thing that Adam already knew he was in love with his best friend. Shaken, exhausted, halfway around the world and on camera would have been a hell of a time for a personal revelation.
Adam had it under control. He took his pills precisely on schedule, he always carried an inhaler just in case, he hid his cough in his elbow, and he hadn't brought up a daffodil petal in months. His feelings were safely out of sight. The friendship was what mattered. He could - he would - live with it.

OR: People keep assuming Ben and Adam are a couple. Adam can't stop thinking about it - even though he's pretty sure (a 100% sure) that he's straight. Turns out, things are rarely this simple.

Of course when the desert-dweller came to Four BOO it was the only story on the flashes for half a vrek. The first time it came on I was shopping with Vert at Silver Pyramid and everyone stopped what they were doing to stare at the screens; I was so distracted that I dropped the handful of platinum discs I was holding and they went rolling and bouncing all over the concourse so I had to pay for them all.
I’d heard the story of the Trial and the Exiles, the ones who live in the desert: it’s something you learn when you start being Jang. Idan said there used to be Picture-Vision of the first Exile and her garden, but the Q-Rs stopped showing it and now no one seemed to know much about the desert people, just that they lived outside in the sand and stones with no wave-net to protect them from lava or wild animals, and no food dispensers or clothing machines or anything. But here he was, an actual male desert-dweller, come back to live in the city.
