Sirius cried a lot lately, Remus had noticed. It had perhaps been three days since they last spoke to each other, but he’d still noticed. It was a silent cry: there weren’t any sobs, nor shivers, or anything at all.
The war had sneaked into their home and it was now tearing them apart.

Crowley sighed as she dipped her quill in the red ink. She hated filling Hell’s reports. Having to recall the commendations she’d had to carry out all over the last few days —as well as the anthropic activities she had shamelessly taken the credit for— turned her stomach and tightened the ever-present knot of her chest.
A drop of ink landed on the top of the parchment.
When Crowley has a nightmare, thankfully, Aziraphale is there to soothe her down.

“Demons have laws?” Aziraphale asks, head cocked to the side.
“Well, insofar as nature has laws, yes. Is that your final request? Is that what it’ll be?”
Aziraphale takes a moment to contemplate this. “Yes.”
Crowley nods, then holds the pad of his thumb out to Aziraphale’s mouth. “Lick it,” he commands.
“Excuse me?” Aziraphale squeaks. Crowley notes that this is the first time Aziraphale has been outwardly puzzled at literally anything Crowley has done.
“In order for a demonic contract to be solidified, there needs to be a mixing of biological matter, and I’m assuming you’re not into bloodletting,” Crowley says, eyes wide. He’s been wrong before.

Everything changes for him when a unique occult relic falls into his hands and loops him into a contract with a mild-mannered (if a bit snarky) demon named Crowley.

Because they can’t see each other more than once every few decades, Aziraphale suggests that he and Crowley write to each other to pass the time apart. As quills for their letters, they exchange wing feathers: a gesture of great intimacy that Crowley is convinced only he perceives the depth of. But time will tell that it’s not just him who sees it that way.

Summary
“Brilliant, Moony.” Sirius doesn’t say it like he would to James, all brotherly rowdiness, back-claps and teasing. It’s softer, with the kind of look that Remus would expect to see only in the dead of night, tucked safe behind bed curtains.
The sunlight doesn’t erase last night, doesn’t make the dark circles under Sirius’ eyes any less tragic, but it makes it all seem softer somehow, like today will be better for the simple fact that there is light.
Or: Remus struggles with his feelings towards Sirius after The Prank.
