Summary
Being in high school is hard enough, but also being the defenders of Ninjago? Exhausting. Especially when no one can know, not even your teammates. Lloyd loves his role as the Green Ninja--leader of the Secret Ninja Force. But his father is determined to bring that to a grinding halt.
This story delves into each character (some more than others), their motivations, and ultimately their identity reveal--a.k.a. my favourite trope.

‘Cole felt like he was dreaming, walking through a thick haze, senses dulled to a deafening numbness. He couldn't feel anything. He saw leaves rustling, but he couldn't feel the breeze. He could barely feel the ground under his feet.’
I was blown away by the love I received for my recent angsty ball of Ninjago fanfiction; Just Breathe. So I wrote another one, this time focused on Cole’s time as a ghost. While Cole takes centre stage, there is plenty of Lloyd/Morro angst and Jay/Nya/Nadakhan angst mixed in.
The fic spans from the start of S5 until post S7. It is canon compliant, but focusing on the times in between. S6 in particular is treated from the team’s perspective, so skipped over completely (although the events are eventually discussed).
TW: There is violence, but it is only slightly worse than what you would expect in canon. There is discussions of rape. The rape itself isn’t graphically described, but it comes up multiple times. I will put an author’s note at the start of each chapter that is relevant. -

One of the best Ninjago fics I have ever read. I aspire to be able to write character development like this aaaah!
