Summary

Summary
For over a decade, since he was a freshman in college, Viktor has loved Jayce in silence, scrounging for any morsel of warmth and closeness while pretending it was enough to satisfy him—until it wasn’t. Beaten by the situation for years, watching Jayce graduate and move away to be with someone else, all that seems to survive is bitterness and resentment. But Viktor is apparently still hopeless, because when Jayce calls him out of the blue and asks to meet for dinner and drinks, he goes to him. Armed to the teeth, expecting another upset, but he goes.

Carefully, Jayce takes one of his hands in his own, feeling a charge lying under Viktor’s skin. He feels cool to the touch and in a moment of clarity, Jayce’s finger brushes over where Viktor’s pulse should be. He feels it there, steady and thrumming under his touch.
They were alive.

OR, Jayce and Viktor get a second chance when the Arcane throws them back out, and now they have to decide where to go from there. They settle in a small town while in hiding, slowly recovering from past mistakes and coping with the guilt of what they've done.
