Tim Drake never actually wanted to become part of the Robin-Batman-vigilante outfit. No, really. But the last Robin up and died, and now Batman is going crazy, and no one else is doing anything about it, so...Tim decides to become Robin. He might as well, right? At the very least it'll give him something to do while his parents are gone.

Still, Tim's not taking up the mantle until he can put a couple of things in order. Step one? Making sure the Joker can't get it into his head to kill another Robin. Not ever again. (Good thing Tim's not the one with a 'no killing' rule.)

And then after that? Well, after that it's only just a matter of keeping Batman from learning Tim's identity and subsequently chasing him off. Not until Bruce can get back on his feet and pick a new Robin, a real one this time. Easy-peasy.

    Sort of.

The note had been short, blunt, and accompanied by a lock of Dora’s dark hair. It demanded Cliopher’s presence, alone, under a certain tree in the Palace gardens, before the first hour of the morning. He was to bring his seals of office.

There had been some argument, of course. Cliopher had overruled it.

In which Cliopher is surprised to find that his Radiancy has less respect for the protocols than for his Lord Chancellor's safety - or his own - and must travel through his lord's memories to rescue him from the ensuing curse.

    Summary

It is a myth that hobbits cannot swim. It’s a falsehood that started when a group of men saw a hobbit slip into a river and sink straight to the bottom. They did not see the young girl come back out. They assumed she drowned.

That, as stated above, is blatantly false. Hobbits can swim just fine, thank you. They can also breathe water, effortlessly switching from water to air as they switch environments. They spend the first years of their life almost always completely submerged. They could never drown.

For hobbits were created by the Valar, Ulmo, the Sea-King, the Lord of Waters, the Commander of Rains. All water comes from Ulmo and all water leads to Ulmo. The hobbits understand this intrinsically. They really can’t fathom why the rest of Middle Earth is confused about this.

Ulmo loves his little sprites. He loves their large feet, perfect for paddling through his waves. He loves their dainty size and voracious appetites made flawlessly to mimic the element he commands. Water is always hungry; even the smallest amount can make a large difference in the world.

He created them and thus welcomes each new life into the world within his realm.

    All but one.
