Summary
Zuko only barely resists flinching again when Sokka grabs his frozen hand in his broader, warmer one and presses the binoculars into his palm. “Come on, dude. You wanted to see them. I’ve seen them plenty. Have a look.”
Tentatively, Zuko peers through the lenses. At his first clear glimpse of the tiny seabirds, he sucks in a cold breath.
“I thought they’d be bigger,” he whispers, following one bird with his eyes until it flits away faster than he can track, then choosing another one.
“They’re each only about a pound or less,” Sokka says. “Hardy little guys, though. They live at sea for two years as fledglings before ever setting foot on land.”
Sokka must have already said all this on the ride, and he’s repeating it for Zuko’s benefit. It doesn’t have the air of a rehearsed speech, though. Sokka sounds genuinely impressed.
Zuko is foolishly, recklessly, a little bit in love.

Gone his whole life without a single Echo, Jim cannot stop wondering what might have become of his soul-mate. And why they never wrote back to him...

Summary
In 2017, twenty-two year old Aang is a critical asset to the Pan Pacific Defense Corps; he's the only person in the world who can solo-pilot Avatar, the semi-mythical Jaeger built to seal the Breach and end the Kaiju War. But when a tragic accident puts him in cryo-stasis, humanity is forced to adapt.
Fifty years later, Aang wakes up to a world reshaped by climate change, corporate greed, and half a century of war against interdimensional aliens. While his return is celebrated as the rebirth of the Avatar Project, and a renewed hope for humanity, Aang must navigate the conflict between his beliefs and his duties, while coping with the loss of his mentor Gyatso and finding his place in a world that is as foreign as it is familiar.

straggler
/ˈstraɡlə/
something that grows or spreads irregularly or apart from others of its kind.
Wow. Even when the world was ending, Sokka had still found a way to be super fucking gay. Maybe he should win a trophy or something for this shit. Were his standards slipping because he hadn’t actually seen another human being in ages, or was the dude actually really, really good-looking? Unconscious, but still cute. The world had ended. Well, it was supposed to. The city was only a reminder of the struggle that had taken place between zombies and humankind. A city’s worth of panicking people shoving and screaming and running, trying to avoid either getting crushed by desperate drivers or getting mauled by a horde of zombies—it didn’t get much scarier than that.
There are many ways to survive the end of the world, but what comes after? What is there for a survivor? What keeps someone living when the whole world is wasting away? What keeps them fighting for something more than survival, fighting to live?
Isn't it ironic that some only find out what living truly is when everybody around them is dead? -

Summary
“Sokka?” Zuko’s voice is quiet and raspy as he shifts just enough that Sokka lifts his head up from Zuko’s shoulder. The confession Sokka had ready to go dies on his lips at Zuko’s expression - at the red he can just barely make out in Zuko’s eyes. “Sokka, I… need to tell you something.”
Sokka swallows and nods silently, not trusting his own admission to not slip out if he dares to open his mouth. Zuko must be confessing the same thing Sokka wants to. Which, admittedly, Sokka hadn’t actually planned for, but it’s fine. He can adapt to this. He just needs to shift a few words around in his brain, and--
“You’re my best friend, you know that right?”
And why does Zuko’s tone make this sound like a break up?

He knew he shouldn't, these weren't words meant for his eyes, but he kept reading because he couldn't count how many times he wished he could put the feeling of loss into words, notoriously tricky things that they were, instead of carrying it around like an empty space inside him wherever he went, whatever he did.
Or: Sokka can't help but be a little curious about the person who sent the letter he just found. If only messenger hawks could talk.

Summary
The window is open, the Prince is gone, and there's a scarred stranger in the Prince's rooms. It doesn't take a genius to put the pieces together—the stranger is obviously an assassin.
Sokka presses the tip of his sword further into the stranger's neck. "I'm going to give you one chance to tell me who you are and why I shouldn't kill you right now," he says, his voice deadly calm. "Start talking."
Or: when Sokka gets assigned to guard duty outside the rooms of a Prince that no one's seen in six years, he isn't expecting to make any new friends. But when he ends up meeting Li, the servant with a scar and a mysterious backstory that he refuses to share, Sokka gets more than he bargained for.Ft. secret identities, a smidge of murder, and the inherent romanticism of falling in love with the same person twice.

Summary
Zuko doesn’t have time to deal with pressure for an arranged marriage, especially since he isn’t even sure he likes women that way. (A realisation that has absolutely nothing to do with Ambassador Sokka - shut up, Suki.) Katara and Aang have broken up again, and the Northern Water Tribe are pushing for a match between the North and South.
Which leads Zuko and Katara to develop a genius, foolproof, only slightly drunken plan: they can pretend to date for the length of Katara’s stay in the palace, giving them both a brief reprieve from political pressures on their love lives.
What could go wrong?

Because that was the only outcome that Zuko could see. Sokka deserved someone who could give him all that he needed and wanted, and that person just… That person wasn’t Zuko, and that wasn’t going to change.
And so Sokka kept asking, and Zuko kept putting it off.
