Summary
These damn Cardies, Miles had said. Put me through all those medical procedures when they’re planning to execute me anyway. Didn’t have the decency to just kill me.
Something in that conversation had stuck with Julian, and was stubbornly refusing to get unstuck. It was only that… well. That part of Miles’ report, with the chair and the samples and the holding his head still, had put him in mind of some difficult patients he’d had in the past. One thought led to another, and he’d started picturing a very particular difficult patient under those too-bright lights. Not in the chair, exactly, or maybe, if he could be wrestled into it?
None of this was anywhere near appropriate to voice aloud, which is why he was halfway through the question before he realised he’d opened his mouth.
“Do you think you could pull my tooth?”

Summary
After Kira gets together with Shakaar, Odo installs soundproofing in his quarters. Quark isn’t satisfied with the results.
—👂—
“This wouldn’t have anything to do with the holosuites being broken, would it?”
Dr. Bashir is only half present, clearly more interested in his console than in whatever non-emergency has brought Quark here. Quark huffs and swings his legs off the biobed, stomping toward him.
“Doctor, I resent the implication! The holosuites are for my paying customers. Any time I spend on quality control costs me precious latinum! And that also goes for the time I’m spending here, by the way.”
“Ah, of course,” Bashir says, still facing the console, “then explain to me what’s so medically urgent about being fitted for… earplugs.”

Summary
Short, plotless worldbuilding. Oneshot, but shares some themes with the other oneshots in this series, because I will never stop thinking about the wacky edge cases in translating alien languages.
Such as: “hey, for scent-based languages, does the TARDIS just have a bunch of chemicals that it can mist at people? Could you be tricked into saying something that will make the translation matrix spew out poisonous gas? Could you yell really loud to make it blast (translated) extinguishing foam at a fire?”
Potential spoilers through The Giggle.

They Are All Real - Stories of Minor NPCs by ponchard
Fandom: Dragon Age (Video Games), Dragon Age - All Media Types, Dragon Age II, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Dragon Age: Origins

Summary
Stories from the Fade. Each one highlights a different minor NPC. If the Hero, Champion, or Inquisitor appear at all, they're too busy with Important Business to be more than a footnote.
None of these stories are related to each other, so I've put them in alphabetical order. You can read them in whatever order you want.

Literal Elf Nerds by ponchard
Fandom: Dragon Age - All Media Types, Dragon Age: Inquisition
07 Apr 2017
Summary
IN A WORLD where ancient elves are honest-to-god actual literal programmers and live in modern cities but post-Fall Thedas is totally normal and canon compliant, as if nothing weird had happened, ONE ELF NERD hacks, types, and skinny-jeans his way to the eventual FALL OF HIS CIVILIZATION, ROCKETING THEDAS BACK TO THE DARK AGES. Meanwhile, in the present, HE MUST LEARN TO COPE with vastly inferior technology and COMPLETE LACK OF MEDICAL INFRASTRUCTURE. The clock is ticking on our hapless hero!
For reasons that remain baffling, even to myself, this is a series now.

Summary
“It’s annoying, isn’t it,” Garak said, “when you’ve finally decided to give up and someone comes along and stubbornly insists that you keep living.”
Julian’s eyes blinked open. “Garak?” he whispered.
“Hello, my dear doctor.”
CW for off-screen suicide attempt and on-screen suicidal ideation.

Bookmarker's Notes
The characterization feels like such a natural continuation of everyone’s arcs from the end of DS9. Stellar worldbuilding too, I love the post-scarcity hopefulness of it all.

The unwrittenness is such a good conceit. I love how these dip in and out of standard storytelling vs. a higher-level sketch of the worldbuilding.
