It starts with a dare.
A stupid, cliche, juvenile dare.
“Okay– I have a dare!”
“Oh, here he goes…” Remus mutters, pushing another drink into James’ hands.
“I dare you–” he stops and points a finger at James, who is trying to keep in a laugh. “–James Potter. To ask my darling little brother out on a date!”
They didn’t really expect it to go the way it did.
Regulus Black, according to Sirius, is a bit of a cold faced loner who doesn’t look at anyone twice to ever consider dating them. He just isn’t that sort of person.
It was supposed to be funny.
Well, none of them are laughing anymore.
or — james ends up in a relationship with his best friend’s brother because of a stupid dare and starts to fall for him, regulus has been secretly pining over him for years, sirius desperately wants to connect with his brother but goes about it all the wrong ways and through it all, the heavy weight of guilt, making bad mistakes and baring unhealed wounds consumes them all.
