Summary
Viktor is starting to realize God only speaks to him through Jayce. His touch, his voice, his brilliant ideas. It is all divinely inspired. Divinely founded. Viktor had entertained the thought that perhaps Jayce himself is divine. Holy. A messenger of God, untouchable. It is a thought that is easily pushed away, but returns each time with renewed energy.
Jayce Talis cannot possibly be anything other than human. So why does his presence inspire the need in Viktor to bow his head and clasp his hands, reverent and hushed in the way that only a church or synagogue is?

When God speaks, Viktor listens. It’s curious that she only seems to talk when Jayce is around.

Jayce closes his eyes, leaning into the touch. His hands are still shaking, and he thinks his legs have started to tremble, too. He doesn’t really feel like talking about it, but Viktor’s presence is soothing. Warm. Jayce shrugs, swallows loudly around the lump in his throat. “I’m tired,” he whispers.
