Summary
Head Detective Eddie Diaz has his work and his schedules and his comfortable, yet slightly chaotic life, and that’s just the way he likes it. The last thing he needs is another work partner that he’ll purposefully push away.
Detective Evan Buckley has had four mentors in the year since he passed the detective exam, and not a single one of them has wanted to keep him on longer than a few months. All he wants is to be better at his job and have someone actually care to teach him the finer parts of his new path.

Summary
“Clear!” Ravi called into the radio. Buck tensed, prepared to launch onto the line. When he got to the other side, he was going to hug Eddie and quite possibly never let him go.
It was a moment, barely more than a second, when Buck knew something was wrong. Even as he used the balcony to propel himself forward, it collapsed behind him and plumes of smoke billowed upward, filling his nostrils and eyes. The tension in the line snapped, and he was in freefall. In the distance, as he hurtled toward the ground, surrounded by pieces of the high rise, he thought he heard someone shout his name.
He braced himself for death.

Summary
“Do they hurt?”
Buck shook his head. “Umm … no, not really.”
That wasn’t strictly true. They weren’t painful, but every time Buck moved, he could feel them, like there was still lightning beneath his skin, searching for a way out. Touching them made him feel sick. He knew it would pass eventually, but right now, almost every moment, waking or sleeping, he was thinking about how he’d gotten them. About his own mortality. About how he had this strange feeling that he had stolen someone else’s life and he wasn’t supposed to be here.
— — — — —
Buck hates his lightning scars. Eddie changes his mind.

Summary
“You are our saving grace.”
Louis is in hiding - from his past, from loss, from the powers that stole everything from him. For 3 years, he’s abided by rules he drafted the night he fled his homeland of Braris:
1) Trust no one.
2) Any magic, including manifestations of his own visions, is off limits.
3) Keep to himself unless strictly necessary - getting attached would only end in disaster. His new life in Milan, Ohio is lonely, but it’s safe, and that’s exactly what Louis needs. Lonely is better than broken, and as the years pass, he resigns himself to an impending century of isolation.
Enter Harry, a kind, funny, beautiful mortal who turns Louis’ existence upside down. He has a penchant for breaking every one of Louis’ carefully curated rules just by being himself.
While Louis’ walls slowly crumble, the life he is building with Harry is threatened by both the whispers of the future and the hauntings of his past.
When he is pulled back into The Monarchy’s eternal, tyrannical rule, Louis must ask himself 1 question: is it better to fight for his own freedom or for the freedom of the people he left behind?
The runaway Seer might just be Braris’ saving grace after all.

Summary
Maddie blinks, her heart dropping into her stomach. That's Evan’s address.
“We have one male, late twenties with a concussion and a suspected fractured collarbone, and a second male with a possible fractured ankle.”
Suddenly, she recognises the voice.
"Eddie?”
There’s a moment of silence, then a muffled, "I think I got Maddie.”
AKA, the firefam responds to a rather embarrassing call at Buck’s place.

Summary
And, here, looking at his best friend, he can see that something’s broken inside him, too. And, maybe it’s the therapy he’s had over the years, his sessions with Frank, but Eddie wants to talk to Buck. He wants Buck to talk to him. Buck, who just looks so fucking sad, still in his dress blues, one hand drinking the beer, the other coming up to loosen his tie.
This morning, Eddie had noticed Buck tying, untying, retying the tie with breaths of frustration, fingers shaking. “Eddie,” he’d said lowly from across the room, and Eddie wouldn’t have even heard him if he hadn’t been watching. “I, uh, can never – I can never get this right.”

In the aftermath of Bobby’s death, Buck and Eddie need to learn to embrace change, settle into a new normal - a life without Bobby, and life navigating feelings for each other. A vision of what season 9 could be.

Summary
Buck had never been more alone since Eddie left for El Paso. He needed a change, something to help him determine who he was on his own. Becoming a paramedic and moving to Austin was his chance at a fresh start.
What he didn't expect was a call out to a school trip and to hear a familiar voice yelling for him. Christopher.
A chance reunion with Eddie, knowing that the Diaz's missed Buck as much as he missed them, maybe Buck didn't need to let everything go. Maybe he could have what he's always wanted.

That he was going to get there too late.

Summary
Three things happen as Eddie walks through the door of the dentist’s office:
1. the entire waiting room turns to look at him as if they were expecting a celebrity
2. the flustered receptionist looks up, sees Eddie, and says “oh thank god”
3. what is unmistakably Buck’s voice booms down the hall, slurred, but clear as day
Or, Buck gets his wisdom teeth removed. He loves his family *very* loudly.
