Then he replied, in all capitals I will add: “HE IS NOT MY BOYFRIEND.”
It’s a good thing I’ve never made a habit of taking my brother seriously.

The trouble was that Sam was never going to do anything about this himself, Sybil knew that from personal experience. The hopeless man probably hadn't even noticed what was going on. He was probably just putting it down to regular old "Commander of the Guard and Leader of the City'' dynamics. As for Lord Vetinari... Sybill suspected he was having too much fun winding Vimes up to do anything that would put the poor man out of his misery.
